How Do I make a Fauxsaic?
Fauxsaic production is easy, just follow these steps, remember they will also be shown to you while you're in the process:
      1.Give Information
The first page collects information for your site. You e-mail address will be collected so you can receive updates when someone comments on your picture.

2.Select picture for to be converted.
This picture will be the one that will later be made up of little pictures, or "tiles". You can press upload to see it, if you don't like it, you can just select another.

      3.Upload Tiles
Upload everything you want to be considered a tile. All available ones will be displayed in a table below the upload box.

      4.Magic happens
Using the latest computer technology, a computer far away from you takes your source picture, breaks it down into a series of numbers and electrical impulses and then compares each piece with the pictures you uploaded as tiles. It then recreates the picture in a new file and merges it with the chosen tile at a specific coordinate and redirects you to the upload page.

5.You’re Done!(If you want to be)
You are now on the mosaic display page. This is your final mosaic. If you like it, you can publish this way. If not, you can remove it, or chose one of the options below to improve it. The last change you make will be saved and displayed.

What do I do if I don't like my fauxaic?
If you do not like you mosaic you can edit it with various options. These include adding more tiles after viewing which colors were did not have matches, resizing your tiles to be more suitable for your mosaic size.

What happens to my mosaic when I am finished?
After you have finished editing your Fauxsaic it is time to decide what you want to do next. You can either publish it for the world to see and review, or save a copy for yourself and press the remove button so only you have the existing piece of art

Can I Edit My Mosaic Once I leave the Display Page?
Because Fauxsaics is currently without a membership system currently (see below), user information is stored with a command called cookies. This means you can store the Fauxsaics production number onto your computer automatically and edit it later. This will work for 30 days from when begin creation. Make sure cookies are enabled for this to work.

What features can I expect to see in the future?
Fauxsaicslways trying to use modern coding languages to further advance art and styles through math algorithms. We are also working on different plans to make the site more compatible and accessible as well as faster for the weak computers. Here's what you can look out for.
Soon, Very Soon-Projects that are currently top prority. Expect shortly after the site goes public.
o Photo Swap-The ability to map out your Fauxsaic into html (size is up to you), and select a single picture and replace it with one at your choice.
o Resize Entire Fauxsaic- right now pictures are only completed at the size of the input source picture, since they are made of detailed pictures which are sized down, a Fauxsaic can be scaled to the size of the smallest tile before it was shrunken without any loss of quality at all(but you'll have to get reeeeeeaaaaalllllllllllllly far away to see the total picture). All that needs to be done is find a way to tell the computer.
o Automated Image flagging and rating-Flagging can be done currently by sending the picture address in question to the administrator here. With the growing amount of traffic this plan will need to be updated, so you can press a button to simply alert the site a picture is offensive, and it will be dealt with faster and more efficiently.
o Easy Photo Uploading-You may have noticed the uploader for photo tiles is a bit impractical since it does 1 at a time and the average mosaic takes up to 60 pictures. This is because during the beta, the server could not handle a large bandwidth and required too much work to upload a group of large pictures and resize them (you cannot tell but the resizer is located on the page with the uploader. Very shortly after release, this will be replaced with a group of upload bars that will allow the user to chose a bunch of photos and upload them to the server with ne button press.
Not Too Distant Future-Projects that are being planned but are too engrossing to engineer immediately, expect when the sight is stable and traffic becomes regular.
o Fauxsaic Merchandising-Like a picture made by you or somebody else? Soon you can tell everyone you know by showing it off on your shirt or coffee mug for a fee money going towards its creator. Fauxsaics be going to multiple distributors to ally with trying to find the one that will be reasonable for the buyer and the creator.
o Membership accounts-Very important. You may have noticed that you do not need to register in order to create a picture or comment. This will be updated shortly. The problem with working without memberships is that people can break rules without penalization, which may result in offensive pictures or copyright issues without regulation. Additionally, with membership will allow the people to constantly update their pictures or picture information as well as information should they start making money with their pictures. Membership will be free and is currently being planned. Anonymous Fauxsaic creation without an account will probably still be available.
o Easier Photo Uploading-Once the multibar system is functioning, research will be made to adapt even faster forms of uploading pictures, such as breaking them down into a zip file and uploading that, or being able to simply upload everything in a folder. This is not straight forward for the programming language being used for the website, so it requires new tricks.
Crazy Dream Labs-Science based projects that are planned and maybe mapped out but require research and consulation to produce. Expect when site is completely self sufficient and does not need to much maintnence or further publicity work.
o 3D FAUXSAICS-Imagine a picture that can be easily seen in total normally. It is made out of small pictures that are blurred in double vision so that it is not only easy to see as a large picture but you will be able to put on 3D glasses and see it come to life. The double pictures will be utilized to have each tile of the mosaic at a different on the z-axis.
o Sound Mosaics-Photos are converted to mathematics to mix together and are then converted to back pictures. So, why can't the same be done for music? Pictures can be broken down to numbers based on their colors. Music can be broken down in a similar way based on samples of its frequency. Therefore, it is possible to match or manipulate other sounds and replace the original frequency with these new sounds of similar difference in sample. Imagine your favorite (INSRT ARTIST HERE) song remixed with bells, farm animals and portions of other songs and then played back (with or without original voice track on top) to the same beat. This is possible, and a whole new way to listen. Application of this technology would require consultation in someone who studies sound recording and would require an integrated computer program on the server since, unlike a pictures, cannot be done with any languages used for making websites.

Where can I follow development of the website?
Originally we were going to use a site production blog, but managing and updating became too difficult. Until it is back available you can follow progress on the websites Twitter account, called Fauxsaics.
